I am a Brit - I make no excuses for that, I am proud to be one.
Now I live in the USA, I have been turned down for trying to join the National Guard(Air Force as was I in England), for being too old....49 pah...I may not be muscular but I respect my new country and would serve it in a non combatent role (not much good at my age with a gun !!!)
Anyway, imagine my surprise when I worked at Medben in Newark Ohio at being told when I had the audacity to suggest that any American should regard it as their duty to serve their country in some way that if I did not like it here I should go home!!!!...I regard it a privilege to live here, and although I am 50now if I could serve in some way I damned well would...it is a honour....
My immeduate boss there was called Dan Bednar, telephone number 614 562 9897, boasted that he dodged the draft when he was younger and was happy that he did not serve.
Sorry, that does not register with me, if you live in a democracy then you need to be with the country in its bad and good times, not just as it suits whilst others lay their lives on the line!!!
Does anyone agree with me? I am certainly proud to be in my new adopted country....
Please voice your opinion....
Take care comrades in arms....
May God Bless each and every one of you
